In an effort to keep our campus and community safe from illness, all University Libraries locations are closed until further notice as part of the broader closure of the University of Minnesota in response to COVID-19.

Among other things, that means that for the time being, faculty, staff, students, and the general public will not be able to visit our collections, view our exhibits, or attend our events.

Online services and resources

For U of M faculty, students, and staff

While we cannot provide access to our physical collections, we have a multitude of online services and resources for faculty and staff | graduate students | and undergraduates.

For Minnesotans

Our Minitex division has a number of online programs and resources for Minnesotans, as part of its ongoing mission. They include:

Events are canceled or postponed

The University is following the recommendation of the State of Minnesota, effective immediately and until further notice: All major venues at the University, systemwide, are closed to the public, and events will be canceled, rescheduled, or moved online where possible. The University is working closely with public health officials and will regularly assess the ongoing need for these restrictions.

Many Libraries events and workshops have been affected. We’ve listed many of our cancellations and postponements below. Check the continuum events page for more information and updates.

No access to print materials

We are unable to provide access, delivery, or lending of any books or physical materials.

Do you have books checked out? You can keep your materials, even if they are overdue. We have extended due dates and we are not charging fines! This includes interlibrary loans.
