‘Gotta Minute’ event is Oct. 14

Event is FREE but reservations required

Meet the creators of MinuteEarth and Hot Mess — Professor Peter Reich and his son, Alex Reich — and learn how they are working to foster a love for science and better stewardship of our planet through short and engaging online science videos.

This event is the kickoff for the Friends of the University Libraries’ 2019-2020 event series, Friends Forum, and will be held October 14, 7:00 p.m., at the Coffman Memorial Union Great Hall.

A reception will follow the program.

The event is FREE but reservations are required.

Alex Reich

In 2013 Peter and his sons, Alex and Henry, started MinuteEarth, an illustrated educational YouTube channel inspired by Henry’s success with the YouTube channel MinutePhysics. Alex Reich also recently helped launch Hot Mess, a PBS YouTube channel that aims to envision an environmentally just climate future for the United States.

Alex has a master’s degree in natural resources science and management from the University of Minnesota.

Peter is a UMN Regents Professor, whose teaching, research, and outreach focus on how climate change is impacting our ecosystems, what that means for our future, and what we can do about it.
