The ABC of It

Immerse yourself in over 200 selected treasures including original art and manuscripts — from Millions of Cats to Poky Little Puppy to Beatrix Potter’s sketches for Peter Rabbit — a lush range of materials that explore the impact of children’s literature in society and culture over time.

Bring your camera — enjoy three floors of photo opportunities!

  • Sit in the rocking chair in the 18 foot replica of the Goodnight Moon bedroom
  • Cozy up to a life-size Poky Little Puppy
  • Visit the door to the Secret Garden

Curated by visiting curator and children’s book historian Leonard S. Marcus. Marcus has adapted the text for this exhibit from a version he curated in 2014 at the New York Public Library. This exhibit also celebrates the 70th anniversary of Dr. Irvin Kerlan’s first gift of children’s books and artwork to the University Libraries.
