The exhibition Sem, GiGi, and Caricature celebrates the new thirty-foot long acquisition Sem au Bois accompanied by other special collection materials contextualizing caricature during la Belle Epoque in France, and caricature expressed in the film GiGi.

Ralph Rapson: A Tribute to His Life and Work runs through January 16. 2015 at Elmer L. Andersen Library at the University of Minnesota. Rapson, former dean of the University’s School of Architecture (1954-1984), was the designer of iconic Twin Cities buildings such as the original Guthrie Theater, Cedar Square West, and the Rarig Center for the Performing Arts.

Our Global Table: Food, History, and Culture, an exhibit at the T.R. Anderson Gallery in Wilson Library, will explore the global history of the foods we eat in the United States and also the American origins of foods that have become staples elsewhere in the world. The exhibit, which runs through January 5, will feature items from the James Ford Bell Library.

On view August 4, 2014 - May 8, 2015. This exhibit commemorates the 500th anniversary of Vesalius (1514-1564), and draws upon the Wangensteen Historical Library’s strong holdings in the history of anatomy. It explores Vesalius's achievements, other benchmarks of anatomical illustration, and themes such as acquiring bodies, anatomy theaters, and 3-dimensional anatomical models.

On view June 9 - September 17, 2014. Photochroms--a photographic form of chromolithography that produces colorized images from black-and white negatives--were immensely popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Millions of prints were produced depicting thousands of scenes from around the world.

On view April 1 – July 18, 2014 at the T.R. Anderson Gallery, Wilson Library. This exhibition includes artist zines, posters, and other forms of aesthetically derived text/image formats that explore issues of social justice and promote social change. The materials on exhibition are from the Francis V. Gorman Collection of Rare Art Books, the Social Welfare History Archives, and the University Libraries' Special Collections.
