Launch into the semester like…

The semester is underway! Join us at the Toaster for Launch Week, September 13 – 17, to inspire creativity, connect with fellow students, and spark innovation and entrepreneurship.

Monday, 9/13

Ideas 2 Action – Creative Session(s) and Resource Fair

Ideas 2 ActionHave a great business idea? Passionate about addressing an unmet community need? Not sure where to start?

Join us for an ideation session where you will explore the pressing challenges of today (personal, consumer, community, etc.), brainstorm potential solutions, and discuss next steps for moving ideas to action.

Don’t have a game changing idea? No stress.
Join the conversation, connect with fellow curious and creative students, and learn from the process.

Not your cup of tea? Stop by between 3 and 5 p.m. for the Toaster Resource Fair or hear from inspiring student / alumni founders at Telo (3 p.m.) and Unio (4:15 p.m.).

Tuesday, 9/14

Creative Motivation! Bullet Journaling
3 p.m. in the Breakerspace (that’s in the Toaster)

Start the Semester out right! Learn how to use a bullet journal to increase your motivation, stay organized, set daily goals, and reflect on challenges and accomplishments. Have a notebook / journal and some writing utensils ready.

Wednesday, 9/15

How it’s made… on campus! Thinking in 3D
4:30 – 5:30 p.m. in Toaster Southwest

Join us for the first ever How it’s made… on Campus session providing you a behind the scenes look at how bold projects come to life right here on campus.

This session brings in the XYZ Lab and Advanced Imaging Service for Objects and Spaces (AISOS) to show you the unique ways students and faculty are thinking in 3D — from scanning and rendering archeological dig sites to blowing toy goat figures up to life size models (yes, they did that!).

Not enough to draw you in? How about being scanned live with the Creaform handheld scanner… I always wanted my own action figured, hmmmm.

Need more? Stop in at 12 p.m. for an intro to Google Earth Virtual Reality and/or the Entrepreneurship Club’s speaker series.

Thursday, 9/16

Techstars @ the Toaster
7 – 8 p.m. in Toaster Southwest

Hear from 10 promising techstars digital health and wellness startups seeking to help people live healthier lives and making the health system work better for everyone. The kicker? They are looking to hire you!

The session will provide an overview of the techstars program, highlight participating startups, and give you an opportunity to connect, ask questions… and maybe walk away with an amazing internship!

Interested in startups more broadly? Join us at noon for Tech Entre @ the Toaster to learn the dos and don’ts of building a successful startup team and/or drop in an hour early @ 6 p.m. for an info session on Atland Ventures, a student run Venture Capital firm.

Friday, 9/17

Relax… it’s Friday
4 – 7 p.m. in the Toaster

Whew, that was a long week. Come through for a Toaster social! Connect with fellow students and Toaster staff, put in your song request, play VR, video, or board games, and get crafty with the make of the week in the Breakerspace. Light snacks provided!

Looking for something more productive?
Sign up for a 30 minute coaching session between 10 a..m and 3 p.m. via Acara’s Impact Studios and get some insight on a project / idea from a community expert.
