A summer road trip isn’t complete without some great music to listen to along the way.

For your enjoyment, we have created five road trip based playlists, each with a different theme to go along with the routes on our summer reading challenge. The Road Trip playlist is our quintessential list of songs about travel and transportation. The Appalachian Trail playlist focuses on the vibe of the trail with bluegrass and folk. The Great Northern playlist features artists with ties to the states on the route. The Route 66 playlist takes its inspiration from the popular music of the heyday of Route 66, with a blend of standards, swing, and surf guitar. The Rocky Mountains is a little bit country and a little bit rock ‘n’ roll, featuring artists from states along the route.
