It’s finals week! But it’s also mid-December. Holidays are looming and you aren’t done with Fall semester until Friday afternoon (the last day of finals). Does mom keep reminding you to get something for grandma? Has your student group decided to do a Secret Santa exchange? Or maybe you’ve made a New Year’s resolution to show more appreciation to those who matter to you by giving them small gifts.

Fight the urge to finish up finals and escape to a land filled with cookies, hot cocoa and baby Yoda and stop by the Breakerspace to craft some hand-made presents.

The Breakerspace is open December 16-18, 8am-9pm, December 19 8am-6pm, December 20, 1pm-4pm. Winter Break hours 1pm-4pm. FREE 3D printing, vinyl cutting, sewing, VR gaming, crafting, and more!

The libraries have plenty of resources in our makerspaces so you can keep up with gift giving this year — and for FREE!

This week take a study break and walk over to Walter Library to craft some last minute gifts.

Please note the Breakerspace will be closed Saturday, December 21 through Wednesday, December 25. It will be open Thursday, December 26 for all your mid- and post-holiday gift needs.

Gift Ideas

Need a Secret Santa gift for that person in your student group?

Make them a button using the student group’s logo or that awesome photo you took at the last group activity.

Make a button (use the second set of instructions)

Instructions for the button maker can also be found in the Breakerspace.

Make your grandma cry with and then blot her tears with an embroidered handkerchief made by you!

Show your CSE friends that engineering is easy with a 3-D printed gift for Secret Santa!

You can check out our 3-D printers at Walter Library. They are easy to use with instructions labelled on the desk and our designated Breakerspace helpers can help as well.

Now you are all prepared for finals and for the Holidays. Mom will be proud, grandma will feel loved, and your friends will be impressed. Now you can go home and relax. So sit back, sip your hot chocolate, cut-out some cookies and enjoy your Winter Break!

Examples of things you can make in the makerspaces: 3D printed figures, cards, buttons, embroidered cloth, origami cranes, yarn hats.
