Relax! It’s time for Stressbusters and 24×7 study

Text - Stressbusters: Prepare for FinalsThe University Libraries offers “distraction-free” studying for finals that includes extended hours in our buildings, as well as stress-reducing activities. Use our spaces, our computers, our coffee shops, Chat 24/7 with a librarian and take a break with our awesome activities.

Bio-Medical Library (in Diehl Hall on East Bank)

Extended Study Space
Open 24/7 begins at 7:00 a.m. on Friday, December 7 and ends at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 20 with U Card. Reserve a group study room

Study Break Activities December 4-5 

  • PAWS (Pet Away Worry and Stress) on Wednesday, December 5, 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
  • Mini-Chair massages on Tuesday, December 4th, 11-1
  • Button making, kinestic sand, Legos and more
  • Coffee, cocoa, cookies and candy
  • Skeletons in the stacks selfies (and *prizes*)
  • Virtual Reality games in the 3rd floor Makerspace
  • Paper marbling (suminagashi) in the 3rd floor Makerspace

Walter Library

Extended Study Space
Open 24/7 begins at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, December 7 at Walter Library and ends at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 20 with U Card. Reserve a group study room

Other East Bank libraries, including  the Architecture and Math libraries, will have study break activities but are not open 24×7. 

Study Break Activities December 11 – 12 

  • Coffee, snacks, and inspirational activities at Walter, Math, and Architecture Libraries on Tuesday, December 11 and Wednesday, December 12
  • Exam Jam (with more peer tutoring!) 
  • Breaking Stress, Thursday, December 13 from 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m., drop-in crafting and other relaxing activities in the 2nd floor Breakerspace
  • 3D printing, crafting and virtual reality in the 2nd floor Breakerspace

Magrath and St. Paul Libraries

Extended Study Space
Magrath is open until midnight or extended study area until 2:00 a.m. with U Card. Reserve a group study room.

Magrath Study Break Activities December 10 – 14

  • Jiggs, from PAWS (Pet Away Worry and Stress) therapy dog, Wednesday, December 12 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • Try Virtual Reality on Monday, December 10
  • Button making (Tuesday, December 11 to Thursday, December 13) 
  • Coffee, hot cider, and cocoa and coloring on Monday, December 10 to Friday, December 14.

Natural Resources Library (in Hodson Hall) December 10 – 14

  • Coffee and tea and coloring Monday, December 10 to Friday, December 14
  • Button making, Monday December 10

Veterinary Medical Library December 18 – 19

  • Coffee, tea and snacks
  • Button making
  • Board games
  • Pet therapy guests (over the lunch hour)

Wilson Library (West bank)

Extended Study Space
Open 24/7 begins at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 13 and ends at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 20 with U Card. Reserve a group study room.

Study Break Activities December 11-13

  • PAWS (Pet Away Worry and Stress)  on Thursday, December 13 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • Coffee, snacks, button making, and more on Tuesday, December 11th and Wednesday, December 12th, between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
