The closest university public parking will be the 19th Avenue Ramp. There is also a public ramp next to the Courtyard Marriott on Washington Avenue, as well as some nearby street parking. Do not park in the C-89 lot behind the library on 21st Avenue, as this is a contract parking lot and your car may be ticketed.

Julie Schumacher, professor of Creative Writing and English at the University of
Minnesota and author or the nationally best-selling Dear Committee Members,
which won the Thurber Prize for American Humor, will be reading from her highly anticipated sequel The Shakespeare Requirement: A Novel —an academic comedy
of pitched battles waged for small stakes, tackling the latest disputes on campus from
trigger warnings and safe spaces to political correctness and identity politics.
Picking up just where Dear Committee Members left off, it’s a new academic year at the
aptly named third-tier Payne University in the Upper Midwest, where Jason T. Fitger,
a disgruntled faculty member and the hapless anti-hero of Dear Committee Members,
has been elected chair of his dysfunctional and under-funded English department.
Challenged in every area from the technological to the administrative, he’s the perfect
icon for the liberal arts’ current state of crisis in higher education.

There is no RSVP for this event, and seating is first-come, first-served.
