Using archives to create art

By June 28, 2018November 8th, 2023No Comments

Artists Valerie Caesar, Johnnay Leenay, and Rini Yun Keagy presented June 4 at the 2018 capstone event for the Artists in Residence program at the University of Minnesota Libraries. Watch their presentations in the video above.

The residency program was created to highlight historical collections that inspire new art, deepen connections between artists and archivists, and engage the public about the intersections between art and cultural heritage collections.

Beginning in January 2018, Caesar, Leenay, and Keagy took up residence in the Libraries’ archival, research, and digital collections to engage in exploratory creative projects that make art out of history and historical documents.
