University Libraries is gearing up for National Library Week April 10-16, with activities including book drives, finals prep kits, make your own READ posters, and more!

Our Health Sciences Libraries are adding to the celebration in a combined event recognizing both National Libraries Week and National Poetry Month by sharing #LibraryHaiku on social media.

Watch the @umnbiomedlib Twitter account all week for library haikus submitted by our clever and creative library staff.

Submit your #LibraryHaiku

Join in the fun. Create your own three-lined poem about your experience at our Bio-Medical Library, Veterinary Medical Library, and/or the Wangensteen Historical Library of Biology and Medicine.

“We get to partner with such talented faculty, students, and staff across the AHC and the University,” said Erinn Aspinall, Communications Coordinator. “We can’t wait to see how this work translates into poetry. Alumni, patients, visitors — everyone is welcome to participate.”

Tweet your own haiku to @umnbiomedlib for featuring on our Twitter and Facebook accounts. Use the hashtags #NLW16 and #LibraryHaiku.

Take a picture of your written haiku, or the subject of your poem and include it in your tweet.

Happy #NLW16 #LibraryHaiku @umnbiomedlib.

Submitted #LibraryHaiku

What a successful National Library Week!  The haikus that were submitted by our social media followers, by visitors to our libraries, and by library staff were the best. Here are a few of the many haikus that were shared with us, including some never before seen poems.
