Weird, Wild & Wonderful, The Second Triennial New York Botanical Garden Exhibition, curated by the American Society of Botanical Artists (ASBA) at the invitation of the Garden, features 47 artworks of botanical oddities and curiosities, by ASBA artists from Australia, Canada, India, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. These include three Minnesota artists – Nancy Gehrig (St. Paul), Linda Powers (Minneapolis), and Denise Walser-Kolar (Rochester).
Artists prepared for three years, seeking out and portraying plants they considered weird, wild, and wonderful.
The ASBA exhibition will be on view at the from February 6 through May 17, 2015. An opening reception will be held on Thursday, February 12, featuring a talk entitled “Today’s Botanical Artists and Plants at Risk,” by Carol Woodin, ASBA’s Director of Exhibitions, followed by a gallery tour.
