Resources for African American film and literature

Full Text searchThe University of Minnesota Libraries subscribes to several databases that cover African American film and literature.  All of the databases can be accessed via the A-Z database menu or by clicking on each individual database title below.

Ethnic Newswatch

Covers both current and historical information from scholarly journals and magazines and newspapers.  The focus is on materials from ethnic publishers and presses.

FIAF International Index to Film Periodicals Plus

Includes article citations from both scholarly and popular sources from the areas of film and television.  Be sure to see the full-text journal section.

International Index of Black Periodicals

Interdisciplinary; covers both scholarly and popular materials from Black Studies in the US and the African diaspora.  Some full-text available.

MLA International Bibliography 

Covers materials on languages, literatures and folklore; as well as film, television and theatre.
