In 1864, a small group of Finns disembarked from a riverboat in Red Wing, Minnesota, beginning the immigration of Finns into our state. Join us as we commemorate and explore their settlement experiences. The exhibit features photographs, publications, and other materials from the rich Finnish American collections of the Immigration History Research Center Archives.

  • Adrian Andersen King says:

I was able to see this entire Finnish-themed Exhibit at The Elmer Andersen Archival Library during Homecoming Week in October. My memories of living in a suburb of Helsinki from 1961 through 1963 are still vivid and just
viewing the banner proclaiming JUHLA was a delightful gift. If there are any website visitors who share Finnish
Culture appreciation, please contact my email. Kiitos! Sincerely, Mrs. Adrian King, San Francisco, CA

    • Hello, my name is Jim Wuollet. A retired baker and a third and fourth generation Finnish American. At the present time I have 7 grandchildren that are living in Finland. The eldest, Laila Wuollet Uljas, has requested and received from me old photos and detail about our immigrant Finish family. And has published, over the last few months, several entries on her blog pertaining to the subject. Her blog is: tableofcolors.com and I would recommend checking it out.

      Sincerely, Jim Wuollet
