The genres that this collection covers range from documentaries like the above mentioned epic “Latino Americans” (a four-part history of 500 years of Hispanic presence in North America) and PBS analyses of impacting cases like “The Longoria Affair” (the tale of one key injustice and how it sparked outrage nationwide and contributed to the Voting Rights Act of 1965), to feature films like the comedy reflecting Hispanic culture “Quinceañera” and the biopic of the Granny Award winning South Texas singer “Selena.”
The collection of DVDs and videos about Hispanics at the SLC in Walter Library supports research and course work by faculty and students in Chicano/Latino Studies, American Studies, history, and other departments. But it is accessible to all members of the University of Minnesota with a valid ID, and titles within it can be borrowed.
