Sherlock Holmes is not just a character on PBS!  He made quite a mark in Minnesota during his career as the world's foremost detective. Learn how Holmes first came to the state in 1894 and returned for six more adventures. And why the great detective remains very much a presence in Minnesota today via the magnificent Sherlock Holmes Collections at the University of Minnesota Libraries. This event features author Larry Millett and our own Sherlock Holmes' curator, Tim Johnson!

The evening features a reading by Jonathan Blunk, remarks by Charles Baxter and Patricia Hampl, and a conversation with Blunk and Anne Wright facilitated by Michael Dennis Browne.

Love is the theme of the day! And also the theme of 19th-century European lyric poetry resulting in the Golden Age of Russian poets. Join Anatoly Liberman as he reads from great authors who have been rarely or never translated into English. Modeled on John Gielgud’s one-man show, The Ages of Man, the reading features the progress of love from its timid beginning, through its pangs of jealousy — a sweet remembrance of former joys and love after death. Bring your Valentine!
