The student employees of the SMART Learning Commons won the Goldy Gophers Golden Student Team of the Year Award yesterday at the University of Minnesota’s Student Employee Leadership Program’s “SELPies” award program.

The award recognizes outstanding undergraduate student employee teams on the Twin Cities campus who demonstrate a strong foundation in the Student Development Outcomes, successful interactions as a team, and a strong emphasis on teamwork to reach their goals.

The winning SMARTies team includes Hana Boudlali, Annie Tran, Nick Nelson, Abby Jorgenson, Allie Brunnette, Peyton Garcia, Noelle Trovella, and Isaac Yi (not pictured: Abby Marose and Danny Huang).

“The SMART Learning Commons Student Media Consultants are extremely deserving of this recognition — to say I am incredibly proud of them would be a massive understatement,” said Jennifer Veile, Multimedia Site Manager and Media Consultant with the program. “They exceed my expectations on a regular basis and we simply could not provide such a wonderful service at the Walter and Wilson SMART Learning Commons without their teamwork.”

The SMART Learning Commons, located at Walter Library and Wilson Library, provide students with tutoring, media services and support, peer learning, and Peer Research Consultants.
