Finals at the Libraries: Studying 24/7 and Stress Busters

The University Libraries offers distraction-free studying for finals that includes extended library hours and stress-reducing activities. Use our spaces, our computers, our coffee shops, get help when you need it, and take a break with fun activities.

Magrath and St. Paul Libraries

Extended Hours: Open until midnight December 11 to December 17 and extended study area until 2 a.m. with U Card

Study Break Activities:
Monday, December 8 and Tuesday, December 9

  • 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. – Make your own buttons (Magrath Library)
  • All day – Library bingo and grab a free book for after finals
  • All day – Inspiration chain and origami insects and birds (Natural Resource Library)
  • All day – Free tea—BYO Mug (Vet Med Library)

Wednesday, December 10 and Thursday, December 11

  • All day – Library bingo and grab a free book for after finals
  • All day – Inspiration chain and origami insects and birds (Natural Resource Library)
  • All day – Free tea—BYO Mug (Vet Med Library)

Bio-Medical Library (East bank)

Extended Hours: Open 24/7 from December 4 to December 17 with U Card

Study Break Activities:
Tuesday, December 9

  • Pet Therapy at the Bio-Medical Library.

    11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. – Chair Massages

  • 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. – Photo Booth—NEW!
  • 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. – Pet Therapy with Woodstock the Chicken
  • 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. – Snacks

Wednesday, December 10

  • 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. – Chair Massages
  • 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. – Photo Booth – NEW!
  • Noon to 2:00 p.m. – Pet Therapy with Gabe the Husky
  • 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. – Snacks

Walter Library (East bank)

Extended Hours: Open 24/7 from December 3 to December 17 with U Card

Study Break Activities:
Throughout Finals Week, take a break with puzzles, legos, coloring sheets, and other crafts anytime in the Great Hall.

Tuesday, December 9

  • 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. – Try some new tech: Google Glass and Oculus Rift in the Great Hall.

Wednesday, December 10

  • 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. – Make paper snowflakes and decorated wand pens in the Great Hall.

Thursday, December 11

  • 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. – Button-making in the Great Hall.

Friday, December 12

  • Perler bead crafts in the Great Hall.

Wilson Library (West bank)

Extended Hours: Open 24/7 from December 11 to December 17 with U Card

Study Break Activities:
Wednesday, December 10

  • 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. – “Let Go!” of your stress with Coloring from Frozen. Make a bookmark or button. Enjoy snacks and cocoa.
  • 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. – Awkward photobooth with holiday props and a skeleton, Otzi the Iceman, and calming techniques from different cultures; co-sponsored with Anthropology Club.

Thursday, December 11

  • 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. – “Let Go!” of your stress with Coloring from Frozen.
  • 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. – Make a festive candle holder and enjoy snacks and cocoa.

Transportation and Safety Resources

The University has options available for safe transportation home.
